Rohingya motorcyclist dies after crashing into parked semi-trailer in Johor Baru

JOHOR BARU: A Rohingya motorcyclist died after crashing into the rear part of a stationery semi-trailer on Jalan Kempas Lama-Seelong.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said the incident happened on Monday (June 15) at 8am.

He said the 22-year-old male victim was travelling from Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam with a 22-year-old pillion rider, also a Rohingya male.

“The accident happened when the victim overtook a car driven by a 55-year-old local man, at the head of a junction, which is the start of a branching road,’’ ACP Radin Ramlan said in a statement on Monday.

However, he said the victim lost control of the motorcycle and rammed into the semi-trailer parked at the shoulder of Jalan Kempas Lama-Seelong.

ACP Radin Ramlan said the victim suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the pillion rider was hospitalised for leg injuries.

“The car driver escaped unhurt,’’ he said, adding the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Radin Ramlan called on those with information on the case to contact the investigating officer, Insp Muhammad Hafiz Aminuddin, at 011-35807871.
