Teenage student killed in three-vehicle collision in Alor Gajah

ALOR GAJAH: A 14-year-old student lost his life on Saturday afternoon (June 13) after his motorcycle collided with a car, throwing him into the path of an oncoming tanker.

The victim, Muhammad Muiszudin Mohamad Yusof, a Form Two student from Kampung Sungai Siput Batu Alang, was travelling towards Lubok China when the incident occurred at approximately 1.48pm along Jalan Sungai Siput.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said that initial investigations found the teenager’s motorcycle struck the rear right side of a car travelling in the same direction.

"The impact caused the victim to be flung onto the opposite lane, where he was subsequently struck by a tanker travelling from the direction of Lubok China towards Simpang Ampat," Supt Ahmad said on Sunday (June 14).

The victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 32-year-old driver of the car (32) and the 43 year-old drive of the tanker were uninjured.

The victim’s body has been transported to the Hospital Alor Gajah Forensic Unit for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have ordered all three vehicles involved in the crash to undergo inspection at Puspakom Rembia as part of the ongoing investigation.

Footage circulating on social media, believed to be captured by a nearby vehicle's dashcam, appears to show the moments leading up to the collision. Supt Ahmad confirmed that investigators are aware of the footage and are utilising it as part of their inquiries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Police are urging anyone with further information to contact investigating officer Inspector Loh Gia Xao at 019-5382353 or to visit the nearest police station.
