Hamzah reappointed as Opposition leader, Ahmad Samsuri still Perikatan chairman


PETALING JAYA: PAS has agreed to reappoint Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin as opposition leader, says PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

He said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar will remain as Perikatan Nasional chairman.

Ahmad Samsuri was previously named as the opposition leader by the Perikatan Supreme Council to replace Hamzah, who was sacked from Bersatu.

Speaking at the Reset convention in Tanah Merah on Saturday (June 13), Hadi said all PAS MPs and members of the Reset movement agreed that Hamzah should continue leading the opposition bloc in Parliament.

"PAS has agreed to retain Hamzah as opposition leader," he said.

Hadi also said Ahmad Samsuri would remain as chairman of Perikatan Nasional.

Meanwhile, he revealed that several politicians are expected to join the new political movement, with their names to be announced later on Saturday in Negri Sembilan.

"Tonight in Negri Sembilan, the names of several political party members who will join our party will be announced," he said.

His remarks came during the convention that also saw Hamzah launch Parti Wawasan Negara.
