The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting the nation's higher education empowerment agenda by providing a loan advance (WPP) of RM1,500 to every eligible new student.
This facility is provided to help cover part of the initial preparation costs for entering public universities (UA) and polytechnics, thereby easing the financial burden borne by families.
This initiative also reflects PTPTN's concern for ensuring that students can begin their studies in a more prepared, orderly and comfortable manner.
This WPP is given to Malaysian citizen students who gave their consent to receive the WPP when applying for admission to Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA) through UPUOnline or via the UA admission portal.
Furthermore, the students' parents or guardians must be recipients of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and meet the specified eligibility criteria.
Since the WPP was introduced in 1999 up until April 30, 999,838 students have benefited from this assistance, involving an allocation totaling RM1.48bil.
The WPP offer will benefit 40,099 students who successfully pursued their studies at the Diploma level in UA and polytechnics for the June 2026 intake session, involving an allocation totaling RM60.1mil.
Students can check their WPP offers via the myPTPTN application and can encash the WPP at Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd (BIMB) counters nationwide starting from Wednesday (June 10) by bringing the WPP offer letter and the student's MyKad (representatives are not permitted).
The validity period of the WPP is for two months, from Wednesday to Aug 9.
PTPTN has reached out to students offered the WPP through a home visit session by PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim, in the Tasek Gelugor area, Penang.
During the visit, she presented the WPP offer letters to eligible students.
Also present were PTPTN corporate communications and marketing department senior general manager Wan Zawiah Wan Abu Bakar and Penang PTPTN office director Muhammad Muhsin Abdul Rahman.
Norliza said, "PTPTN is always committed to ensuring that access to higher education can be enjoyed by all segments of society, regardless of socioeconomic background.
“This PTPTN WPP allocation initiative is to help cover part of the expenses for the early preparation of new students entering UA and polytechnics."
Students who wish to apply for a PTPTN loan can submit their applications online through the myPTPTN application according to the application dates set for each UA and polytechnic to ensure that the loan can be processed and approved accordingly.
Students wishing to apply for a PTPTN loan must have a National Education Savings Scheme (Simpan SSPN) account, which can be opened via the myPTPTN application.
Students may refer to the student affairs division of their respective UA and polytechnics or contact PTPTN directly if there are any enquiries. Further information regarding the PTPTN WPP and PTPTN loans can also be obtained through the myPTPTN application for a more convenient, fast and secure service.
