A MALAYSIAN tour group visiting China was criticised online for ordering some 1,200 parcels through Taobao and had them sent to their hotel, causing them to be strewn all over the lobby, reported China Press.
The travel agency posted a video of the incident on the social media app Xiaohongshu showing hotel staff at the reception desk scrambling to distribute parcels to their respective owners.
A member of the tour group reportedly bought 50 different items on Taobao and had to use an extra large plastic bag to take them back to her hotel room.
The video sparked backlash against the Malaysian tour group, with Internet users in China criticising the shopping spree as being inconsiderate towards hotel staff.
“Hotel staff were forced to work overtime sorting and moving them, leaving them exhausted. The staff are not your personal parcel managers,” one netizen wrote.
Many netizens criticised the group for creating extra work for hotel staff, who are already busy.
> Taiwanese singer Ella Chen broke down during a concert in Shandong, China, recently and shared that her 70-year-old father was involved in a traffic accident just before Mother’s Day, according to China Press.
The 44-year-old revealed that the family had planned on going on a trip on Mother’s Day.
However, just a day earlier, her father was involved in a motorcycle accident and required four stitches on the side of his head.
According to Chen, there was also some internal bleeding in his brain, which affected his speech and cognitive abilities, leaving him unable to communicate normally with family members. He is currently in rehabilitation.
“Fifty years ago, you lost a hand, but you never gave up on life. So this time, please don’t give up either.
“You still have a chance to live the rest of your life in a different way,” she said, adding that she hoped fans could help cheer her father on.
It was reported that Chen’s father lost an arm in a workplace accident years ago.
