Ambulance involved in three-vehicle collision

JERTIH: An ambulance carrying two patients from an earlier motorcycle crash was involved in a three-vehicle collision in Kampung Cherang Meliling, off Jalan Jertih-Pasir Akar.

District police chief Supt Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahman said the accident occurred at 5pm on Tuesday while the ambulance was en route to Hospital Besut.

The two male patients, one seriously injured and the other with minor wounds, were picked up from a previous accident in Kampung Chegar Batang.

“Preliminary investigations showed a multi-purpose vehicle crossed from the right shoulder of the road and collided with the ambulance,” he said yesterday.

The impact caused the ambulance to lose control, veer onto the left shoulder, and smash into a parked car, knocking it into a drain, Bernama reported.

Supt Mohd Rozaime said apart from the two patients in the ambulance, all others escaped injury. However, the front of the ambulance was damaged.

“Both patients were transferred to another ambulance and taken to Hospital Besut, located less than 1km from the scene.”
