PUTRAJAYA: A total of 270 technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) are leading the way with an employability rate of 99.5%, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“This achievement reflects the growing confidence industries have in TVET graduates and the effectiveness of training programmes offered by Mara institutions,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Speaking at the National TVET Day celebration on Saturday (June 6), Ahmad Zahid said the strong performance was in line with the government's efforts to strengthen industry collaboration and ensure training programmes match workforce demands.
He said the employability rate of TVET graduates had risen to 98.7%, up from 96.1% previously.
Describing the achievement as a major success, he said it demonstrated the effectiveness of collaboration between the government and industry players in producing graduates who meet current job market requirements.
Ahmad Zahid said many industries had signed agreements with TVET institutions and the National TVET Council to absorb graduates directly into the workforce, with some companies offering starting salaries of at least RM2,500.
He added that TVET would continue to be enhanced through the introduction of TVET 2.0, which will place greater emphasis on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT) and renewable energy while addressing skills mismatches and expanding opportunities in high-growth sectors.
