Man jailed 26 months for throwing stones at moving cars

KUALA LUMPUR: A man with a hefty criminal record has been jailed for 26 months for hurling stones at moving vehicles along Jalan Setiapuspa here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Hoo Chang Hook said six police reports were lodged by victims on Tuesday (June 2), all claiming that a man had thrown stones at their vehicles.

“One of the victims sustained injuries to the hand and body from shattered windscreen fragments and the stone that was thrown.

“The injured victim sought treatment at a private clinic and was reported to be in stable condition. The other victims were not injured,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

ACP Hoo said the total losses incurred by the victims were estimated to exceed RM20,000.

He said follow-up investigations led to the prompt arrest of the suspect.

“Police also seized a waist bag belonging to the suspect containing several stones and a modified pair of scissors believed to have been used as a weapon,” he said.

Checks showed that the suspect had eight prior offences and one drug-related offence.

ACP Hoo said all six investigation papers were referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office on Wednesday, leading to the suspect being charged and sentenced to 26 months in jail.
