Man lands in jail over ex-girlfriend’s Nintendo Switch


A MAN in Taipei was sentenced to four months in prison after ­refusing to return a Nintendo Switch to his former girlfriend following their break-up, Sin Chew Daily reported.

According to the Taipei District Court, the man borrowed several electronic devices from her in 2023, ­including a TV set and Bluetooth headphones.

When the couple broke up, he did not return the belongings to the woman, leading her to file a police report.

The man initially denied the allegations, claiming he had already returned all the items.

Prosecutors subsequently charged him with misappropriation.

The court sentenced him to four months’ imprisonment, commutable to a fine of NT$120,000 (RM15,164).

> A 25-year-old university ­student in Singapore was charged in court with breaking into the women’s toilets at the campus and attempting to film videos of female students showering, Oriental Daily reported.

The student, who claimed he needed cash for rent, was caught after campus security spotted him on CCTV in May last year.

He had trespassed into the restricted halls of residence through a faulty security door.

Campus security spotted his ­suspicious behaviour on CCTV and detained him at the scene before handing him over to the police.
