Teen girl missing during hike found dead after four-day search


HULU SELANGOR: A teenage girl who was believed to have lost her way while hiking at Bukit Changkat Asa here four days ago was found dead by rescuers on Tuesday (May 26).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the body of Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul, 19, was found off the hiking trail by the search and rescue (SAR) team at about 11.59am.

"The victim's body was found about 500m from the last known location where she was seen and 1km from the incident control post.

"It took the SAR team about 20 minutes to bring the body to the control post using a stretcher," he told Bernama when met at the control post.

The body was handed over to the police before being taken to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital, he added.

Earlier, the SAR operation, which entered its fourth day Tuesday, resumed at 8am involving various security agencies after being suspended at 6.30pm Monday (May 25).

Nur Izzati Humaira was believed to have lost her way at about 10.50am on Saturday (May 23) while descending the hill with her family after deciding to walk ahead alone as she felt hot and tired.

The case drew widespread attention on social media and in the news over the past few days, with many netizens expressing concern and offering prayers and well-wishes for the teenager's safe return throughout the SAR operation. - Bernama
