Search for missing hiker resumes


IPOH: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a missing hiker at Gunung Batu Putih has resumed.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said the operation to locate Jaslinda Saludin, 49, restarted at 8am on Tuesday (May 26).

Sayani said 12 more personnel have been dispatched to assist eight rescue workers who stayed overnight at the location.

"Today's operation will be assisted by a helicopter.

"The operation will focus on the trail towards Gunung Rayu and Pos Musuh, where we believe the victim is lost," she said in a statement.

Jaslinda was among a group of 14 hikers, accompanied by two mountain guides, who began their expedition on Saturday (May 23).

Another hiker, Mohd Hanafi Neikmad, 41, suffered health complications and has been rescued, while 12 others safely completed the expedition on Sunday (May 24).
