KULAI: The family members of a 22-year-old man who was murdered outside a restaurant in Pekan Nanas want answers as they are still in the dark over the tragedy.
The victim’s cousin, J. Rajeswari, 21, said the family is distraught over R. Arunkumar’s death.
“My 51-year-old uncle, Arunkumar’s father, is struggling to accept that he has lost his son,” she said at the family’s home in Saleng here.
Arunkumar was found dead outside a restaurant after an alleged attack by a group of men at around 3.53am on May 21.
She claimed that several of the Arunkumar’s friends ran away after the incident.
“Maybe if someone had rushed him to the hospital earlier, he could have been saved.”
Rajeswari described Arunkumar as a good person who was passionate about playing the urumi, a traditional Indian musical instrument, and was actively involved in urumi groups for about eight years.
Pontian OCPD Supt Hadzrat Hussien Mion Hussain said six people, aged between 18 and 22 years old, were arrested in relation to the incident.
