KUALA LUMPUR: The government has agreed to continue the Budi Madani: Budi Agri- KomoditI cash subsidy initiative in a targeted way to help smallholders, entrepreneurs and vulnerable groups who are the backbone of the country's economy, says the Prime Minister.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that he understands the pulse of the people who are currently facing pressures from the rising cost of living and global economic uncertainty.

"Based on these considerations, the government has agreed to continue the initiative," he said in a Facebook post on Monday (May 25).

This was decided at the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting earlier in the day after presentations from the Health Ministry Plantations and Commodities Ministry on the global supply chain crisis.

On health security, Anwar said that overall, the supply of medicines in the country is still stable and the health authorities will continue to monitor any challenges involving the stock chain and prices to prevent the people from becoming victims of the situation.

"Whatever the challenges that lie ahead, the Madani government will continue to work hard, act with responsibility and ensure that the welfare of the people is always the country's priority," he said. – Bernama
