Customs launches nationwide F&B registration ops

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department has launched the Food and Beverage (F&B) Registration Operation 2026 simultaneously nationwide from May 11 to July 10.

The operation was launched by Customs deputy director-general (customs and internal taxation) Siti Mang at the Seberang Jaya Customs Complex here Wednesday (May 20).

In a statement, Customs said the operation was aimed at identifying companies or individuals providing food and beverage preparation services that are subject to service tax under Group B of the First Schedule of the Service Tax Regulations 2018.

The department said besides focusing on companies or individuals involved in food and beverage preparation services, the operation also covers companies awarded government tenders for food and beverage services.

"As of May 2026, the number of registered persons under food and beverage preparation services subject to service tax stood at 11,604, representing 10.98% of the total 105,681 persons registered under the Service Tax Act 2018," the statement read.

The department said Customs remains committed to strengthening tax compliance, contributing towards increased national revenue and supporting the economic development agenda under the Madani Economy framework, which emphasises a balance between economic prosperity, public well-being and national sustainability. - Bernama
