Murder, body dumping of OKU: Four men charged in Kota Baru


KOTA BARU: Two men were charged in the Magistrate's Court here with murdering a person with disability (PWD) at a house in Kampung Binjai, Banggu here last month.

Muhammad Hakim Zikrullah Mohd Zamran, 25, and Mohamed Eerman Daniel Mohamed Afrizal, 27, nodded in understanding after the charges were read out before Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid on Wednesday (May 20).

However, no plea was recorded because the murder case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The two were jointly charged with the murder of Muhammad Zakir Fikry Mohd Zainal, 20, at a house in Kampung Binjai, Banggu at about 11pm on April 13.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the death penalty, or between 30 and 40 years' jail with caning, if convicted.

The court set July 6 for mention of the case.

Separately, Hakim and Eerman with two other friends, Mohamad Areef Mohd Zuki, 25, and Mohamad Aiman ​​Shah Mohd Azizi, 26, pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here to charges of disposing of and concealing evidence by dumping the victim's body.

The four accused were charged with knowing the murder of Zakir Fikry and dumping the victim's body on the roadside with the intention of helping Hakim and Eerman avoid legal action.

The offence was allegedly committed in Kampung Chap Bekelam, Bachok at about 3.30am on April 14 and the charge was filed under Section 201 of the Penal Code.

The court did not grant bail to all the accused and set June 25 for mention of the case. – Bernama
