Teen motorcyclist killed after crashing into MPV on NSE

TANGKAK: A teenager has been killed in an accident involving three motorcycles and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on the North-South Expressway (NSE).

Tangkak OCPD Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the incident happened at KM164.2 south-bound of the NSE at 2.58am on Saturday (May 16).

He said the driver of the MPV had stopped in the emergency lane to remove an object from the middle of the highway.

However, a motorcycle ridden by a 15-year-old crashed into the rear of the MPV.

He said the victim fell onto the road and was hit by two other motorcycles.

"The 15-year-old student, died on the spot while the other two motorcyclists aged 16 and 18 were injured," said Supt Roslan.

He said the two injured were rushed to Sultan Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar, while the MPV driver and two passengers were unhurt.

Supt Roslan said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 26(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Section 26(2) of the Road Transport Act penalises individuals who drive a motor vehicle on the road with a valid driving license.

"I strongly warn parents against allowing their children to drive vehicles or ride motorcycles without a valid license," he said.
