Two women killed, teen injured in Klang hit-and-run, say cops

PETALING JAYA: Two women were killed while a teenage boy was injured in a hit-and-run accident at Jalan Pekan Baru, Bandar Baru Klang, on Friday (May 15).

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao said the victims who died were sisters, aged 57 and 62 years old, respectively, while the injured victim was a 17-year-old boy, believed to be the son of one of the deceased.

“Preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred at about 7.40pm when a silver sports utility vehicle (SUV), travelling from Jalan Meru towards Bandar Baru Klang, lost control and crashed into three pedestrians on the left shoulder of the road.

“The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene,” he said in a statement on Saturday (May 16).

ACP Vijaya Rao said both women were pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.

The teenager sustained minor injuries and is receiving treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang.

He said the three family members were believed to have been walking from their home in the same area to have dinner nearby.

“We have yet to record a statement from the injured teenager,” he added.

Those with information on the incident are urged to contact traffic investigating officer Insp Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-584 3860 or visit the nearest police station.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
