Man, 56, killed in crash with lorry near Kulai


KULAI: A local man driving a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was killed after he was trapped following an accident with a lorry.

Kulai Fire and Rescue station chief Fauzi Awang said the incident happened at Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi after the Felda Taib Andak on Thursday (May 14).

“We received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3.23pm and our men arrived at the scene located 12km at 3.31pm,’’ he said in a statement.

Fauzi said the accident involved a lorry carrying oil palm fresh fruit bunches and the MPV driven by the 56-year-old victim with his wife, aged 55.

“The deceased was identified as Zamri Mohamed while his wife Azizah Abd Samad suffered injuries,’’ he said, adding the lorry’s driver escaped unhurt.

Fauzi said the operation led by operations commander senior officer I Mohd Fauzi Che Idris, with nine firemen from Kulai Fire and Rescue station ended at 5pm.
