King briefed on five new Johor mosques

JOHOR BARU: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has received a report on the construction of five new mosques in Johor from state Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad.

According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Face­book page, the construction of the new mosques involves two in Johor Baru and one each in Kluang, Mersing and Kulai.

“The construction funding comes from the Federal Govern­ment, the Johor state government and public contributions,” the post said.

The audience with His Majesty, who is also the Sultan of Johor, took place at Istana Pasir Pelangi yesterday, Bernama reported.

Also present were Johor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Nasri Md Ali and Johor Islamic Religious Council chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Radzi Mohd Amin.

According to another post, His Majesty also granted an audience to Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and state secretary Datuk Mohammed Ridha Abd Kadir at the same venue. 

Also present was state Lands and Mines director Datuk Mohammed Shakib Ali.
