Muhammad Aidilafifi Muhammad, 28, pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here yesterday to seven counts under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act for physical sexual assault and another under Section 10 of the same Act for possessing a pornographic image.

The fire cadet instructor is said to have committed the offences against the girl at various locations including Parit and Seri Iskandar, Perak Tengah, between early February and May 1 this year.

The offences are punishable under the same sections read together with Section 16(1) of the Act.

When pleading for a lower bail, lawyer Ahmad Shamil Azad Abdul Hamid said his client had cooperated fully with police.

He also pointed out that the accused had served with the Fire and Rescue Department for over four years.

“The accused earns about RM2,500 a month, while his wife is unemployed and currently pursuing her studies. He is also looking after his parents, who are in their 60s, and a 24-year-old sibling,” said Ahmad Shamil Azad.

Judge Jean Sharmila Jesudason set bail at RM9,000 with one surety for all eight charges and June 23 for mention.

She also ordered the accused to report to the nearest police station once a month and prohibited him from approaching the victim or prosecution witnesses.
