KAJANG: A young girl who was reported missing after being swept away by strong currents has been found in Sungai Langat.

Nur Qaseh Deandra Mohd Qayyum was believed to have fallen into a drain in Bandar Mahkota Cheras near here three days ago.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief Wan Syariman Wan Salleh said the remains of the nine-year-old was found yesterday, about 11km from where she was reported to have fallen.

“She was spotted at 12.17pm by our Water Rescue Team members who were conducting a search along Sungai Langat on a boat.

The three-day operation covered a stretch of about 5km from the site at Kondominium Sri Hijau to Sungai Long, which connects to Sungai Langat.

According to earlier reports, the girl’s mother Nordina Zulkarnain, 34, said the open area next to the condominium was a common playground for children, including her daughter.

The victim was believed to have fallen into the drain while attempting to retrieve a ball.

A post-mortem was completed at the Hospital Kajang Forensic Department yesterday.

She was laid to rest last night.
