Lorry carrying paint destroyed in fire at Sungai Ramal toll plaza in Kajang


PETALING JAYA: A three-tonne lorry carrying paint was destroyed in a fire at the Sungai Ramal toll plaza heading towards Jalan Reko, Kajang on Tuesday (June 23).

Selangor fire department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 2.55pm.

"A fire engine from the Bangi Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene and arrived at 3.04pm.

"The fire involved a three-tonne lorry carrying paint, with the blaze affecting the front section of the vehicle," he said in a statement on Tuesday (June 23).

Ashrul Riezal said the fire caused an estimated 80% damage to the lorry.

He added that a toll booth measuring about 4 by 10 square feet was also affected, sustaining approximately 90% damage.

"The operation was brought under control at 3.40pm and no casualties were reported," he said.

A total of six firefighters and one fire engine were involved in the operation.
