Kajang cops launch murder probe after body found in suitcase


KAJANG: A murder investigation has been opened after the discovery of a body stuffed inside a suitcase at a housing estate here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said in a statement on Monday (June 29) that a police report was lodged the day before after the body was discovered in a house in Taman Impian Indah.

As of now, the identity of the victim has yet to be determined as no identification documents were found, he added.

"Investigations are being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said.

The offence carries the death penalty, or 30 to 40 years' jail and at least 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction.

"Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact senior investigating officer Asst Supt Nur Ayuni Aziz at 016 208 0717 or contact the MERS 999 emergency line to assist in the investigation,” ACP Naazron said.
