No untoward incidents at Rain Rave Festival despite massive turnout, says KL police chief

KUALA LUMPUR: The Rain Rave Water Music Festival saw an estimated 30,000 people in attendance, with no untoward incidents, say police.

However, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said a 28-year-old woman was arrested for possessing a knife on May 2.

“She is expected to be remanded for further investigation on Sunday (May 3) morning.

“Several preventive checks were also carried out on individuals deemed suspicious, but no other offences were detected.

“As far as I am aware, none of them were found to be involved in any criminal activity”, he said during a press conference on Saturday (May 2).

He said about 500 officers and personnel were deployed to ensure the safe and smooth running of the event that was organised by the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry on Saturday night.

“This number remains the same each night over the three-day period.

“This is considered a strong deployment, involving the full force from the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters, with support from six districts in Kuala Lumpur, as well as additional assistance from other units.

He expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation, noting that no major incidents or traffic issues were reported despite the large turnout.
