Pakatan labels move by 14 Negri Unmo reps as an 'act of betrayal'

Pakatan comunications director Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan has expressed regret over the move by 14 Umno assemblymen from Barisan Nasional in Negri Sembilan, describing it as an "act of betrayal".

"This clearly does not reflect the spirit of the unity government.

"Pakatan strongly rejects the act of betrayal carried out by Negri Umno assemblymen from Barisan Nasional in the attempt to topple and take over the administration of the state government.

"This is especially so since the reasons stated the 14 assemblymen are in no way related to the performance of the Mentri Besar," said Pakatan comunications director Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

He added that the move was carried out without regard for the welfare of the people and at a time when the unity government and the country were facing a global supply crisis, while striving to manage the economy and reduce the burdens faced by the rakyat.

"Pakatan gives its commitment that, as has been conveyed by the Pakatan chairman (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, the administration of the state government under the leadership of the Mentri Besar will proceed as usual.

"Pakatan will continue to cooperate with the state leadership for the sake of Negri's economic stability and the welfare of the people.

"The coalition will also continue to uphold the role and function of the Malay Rulers," said Fahmi.
