Negri crisis to be resolved through 'political means', says Zahid

CYBERJAYA: The current turmoil in Negri Sembilan will be handled through "political means" in accordance with the state constitution, says Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, said efforts to resolve the issue are of utmost importance to ensure there is a solution.

“We will resolve this issue politically and we will not interfere in the negotiation process or with matters involving the rulers of Negri Sembilan.

“We will find the best solution to ensure that a strong government in Negeri Sembilan can continue to serve and address the people's problems.

“The best thing to do is to follow the existing rules and procedures,” he told reporters after the 54th Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Enforcement Day celebration and the launch of the National Consumer Policy 2.0, here on Tuesday (April 28).

Also present were Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, his deputy Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, as well as the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohd Sayuthi Bakar and director-general (enforcement) Datuk Azman Adam.

Asked if there would be a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the matter, he said they are planning to meet later Tuesday.
