Two terrace houses, four vehicles damaged in PJ fire

PETALING JAYA: Two terrace houses, three cars and a motorcycle were destroyed in a fire along Jalan SS 5D/6 here on Sunday (April 26), Sinar Harian reports.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call on the incident at 7.40pm.

“A total of 16 officers and personnel with fire engines from the Petaling Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by the Damansara station, rushed to the scene, about 8km away,” he said in a statement on Monday (April 27), the Malay language daily reported.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the first fire engine arrived about 15 minutes later and found that the fire involved two Class A terrace houses.

“One house was about 40% burnt, while the other was affected at around 30%,” he said.

He added that the fire also involved three vehicles — a compact car, which was 95%, while a sedan and an SUV were each about 50% burnt.

“A motorcycle was also reported to have been 95% burnt in the incident. The cause of the fire and the total losses are still under investigation,” he said.
