Johor's strong leadership brought in investments that benefitted the people, says Dr Wee

PONTIAN: Johor’s record-high investments have been translated into aid for people across all levels of society, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said the state government under Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has shown itself to be responsive and attentive to the needs of the rakyat.

"State initiatives such as Bantuan Kasih Johor have channelled financial aid to single mothers, university students and farmers regardless of race or religion, while more programmes are being planned.

"Based on the ever-changing (global) situation, Onn Hafiz has demonstrated leadership by modifying existing systems that were previously less effective, and improving them.

"This reflects the state government’s responsiveness," Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, said at MCA’s 77th anniversary fundraising dinner at the Pekan Nanas public park here on Sunday (April 26).

Johor recorded total investments of RM110bil last year, the highest ever in Malaysia’s history.

Dr Wee added that the Mentri Besar’s dynamic leadership has also earned positive feedback, particularly from the Chinese community.

"At events, people have come up to me to praise his leadership style and how they are touched by his sincerity," he added.

In his speech, Dr Wee highlighted the efforts of Pekan Nanas assemblyman Tan Eng Meng and Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng in assisting the local community.

He said among their contributions were relocating a community-based rehabilitation centre to a more suitable location and providing tuition for primary and secondary school students.

Asked whether incumbent elected representatives would be fielded in the upcoming state election, Dr Wee said those who had served their constituencies well would be retained.
