Bersatu proposes Azmin Ali as Selangor Perikatan chairman

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu has proposed Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to be the Selangor Perikatan Nasional chairman, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Bersatu president said the party had sent a letter on the matter to the Perikatan chairman but a final decision had not been anmounced yet.

"We have sent a letter (on the appointment) to the Perikatan chairman.

"We have proposed Azmin Ali. There is no other name," he said during the Selangor United Convention press conference at Shah Alam on Sunday (April 26).

Muhyiddin said that apart from Selangor, several candidates had been named to lead Perikatan in the states of Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Perak and Sabah.

"Bersatu has chaired the Selangor Perikatan for some time and Mohamed Azmin is also the Selangor Opposition leader, so he is qualified (for the position)," he said.

Muhyiddin also claimed Bersatu had fully recovered from its internal turmoil where party leaders in states and regions resigned or were dismissed.

He said this was due to smart decisions by the party leadership.

"The leadership took swift action to improve and also reorganise some places that were affected (by the turmoil), thank God they have recovered to their former glory," he said.

"Most of the appointments have been completed. There are only one or two that have not … even those are isolated," he said.
