Produce proof of ‘billions of ringgit stored in Africa’, says PM

JOHOR BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on those who alleged that he has “billions of ringgit” stored in Africa to produce proof.

He said there was no need to comment on the matter without evidence of the claims.

“If there were a thousand such allegations, would I have to answer them all?

“Produce proof (if the claims are true). Otherwise, it will be a breeding ground for slander. I have a lot of other work to do,” he told reporters after a dialogue session with trainees at the Temenggong Ibrahim teacher education institute here on Friday (April 24).

Anwar’s comments came in response to a video circulating on social media by a woman claiming the Prime Minister had billions stashed away in Africa.

The video was reposted by PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who said that the country was led by an individual who is “highly dangerous” if the claims were true.

On a separate issue, the Prime Minister said the Negri Sembilan royal crisis would be left to the state to handle.

“Negri Sembilan is calm. Let them handle the matter with their state laws and wisdom,” he said.

On April 19, the four ruling chiefs – Mubarak, Undang of Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Undang of Johol Datuk Muhammed Abdullah and Undang of Rembau Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin – signed a joint declaration to depose the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir on the grounds of misconduct.

They also unanimously named the Tunku Panglima of Negri Sembilan Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja'afar as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Besar.

The Palace has not commented publicly on the issue, but Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has questioned the legality of the attempt to remove Tuanku Muhriz.
