KUCHING: The Long Lellang STOLport (short take-off and landing airport) is temporarily closed to commercial operations while investigators look into the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash on Tuesday (Sept 8).
State-owned airline AirBorneo Airways said its flights from Miri to Long Lellang and Long Lellang to Miri scheduled for Wednesday will be retimed to Friday.
"We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation as the relevant authorities carry out the necessary investigations," it said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
"Al-fatihah and our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
"Thank you for your kind understanding," it added.
Located about 310km from Miri, Long Lellang is one of the rural air services (RAS) destinations served by AirBorneo's Twin Otter aircraft.
The crash on Tuesday claimed the lives of all five people on board, including the pilot and four Health Ministry personnel.
According to media reports, the site has been cordoned off and secured as search and recovery operations resume on Wednesday.
