MELAKA: The National-level World Water Day 2026 celebration, to be held at Pantai Tanjung Bidara, Alor Gajah, over two days starting Friday, is expected to attract up to 5,000 visitors.

“The National-level World Water Day 2026 celebration is a major agenda under the mandate of the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, and the state government is honoured that Melaka has been chosen as the host location for this high-impact event.

“This celebration will also act as a catalyst for Visit Melaka Year 2.0, and the selection of Pantai Tanjung Bidara as the venue will indirectly help promote the uniqueness of coastal tourism to visitors,” Melaka State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad told reporters after an interview in conjunction with the National-level World Water Day 2026 celebration.

Azhar said a variety of engaging activities will be held over the two-day celebration, including exhibitions by ministries and agencies, Jualan Rahmah Madani, entrepreneurship pocket talks, and traditional games such as beach volleyball and tug of war.

“A lucky draw offering 140 exclusive prizes by Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad will also be held, including two electric motorcycles, smart televisions and smartphones,” he said.
