Police investigating assault on woman on LRT


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have opened an investigation after a woman was allegedly punched by an unknown man while travelling on the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Asst Comm Annas Sulaiman said police received a report on the incident on Tuesday (Sept 22).

“Police were informed that a 45-year-old local woman was punched by an unknown man while inside an LRT train on the Kelana Jaya line.

“The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement on Friday.

ACP Annas urged anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Sharifah Khadijah Syed Rohani through the Wangsa Maju police hotline at 03-9289 9258 or 03-9289 9222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or the nearest police station.
