Senior citizen suffers burns in Kuala Selangor house fire


SHAH ALAM: An elderly woman sustained first-degree burns after her kitchen caught fire on Thursday (April 23) evening.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a distress call on the incident was received at 6.30pm.

10 officers and personnel from the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, were deployed to the scene.

"The operations commander reported that the fire involved a Class A building lot house on Jalan Haji Hashim, Kampung Bukit Belimbing, with 30 per cent of the kitchen area destroyed.

"A local woman in her 60s sustained first-degree burns. She was taken to the hospital by family members,” Ahmad Mukhlis said in a statement.

The fire was brought under control at 6.48pm. The cause of the incident is still under investigation. – Bernama
