Govt steps up efforts to boost food supply

KUALA LUMPUR: Measures to ensure the country’s food supply remains stable and sufficient will be strengthened amid the global supply crisis, says Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu (pic).

“The government will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure the country’s food supply remains sufficient and secure.

“Efforts are being taken to further strengthen food security, including increasing food stockpiles, boosting the national food sector and diversifying supply sources,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that the matter was among those discussed at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday, reported Bernama.

Mohamad also urged the public to practise prudence and avoid waste as a collective effort in addressing current challenges.
