1,000 litres of diesel seized, lorry driver held in Kampar raid

IPOH: A total of 1,000 litres of diesel was seized, and a lorry driver was detained following a raid at a petrol station in Kampar.

The Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry carried out the raid under Ops Tiris 4.0.

State director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the operation was conducted at about 9pm on Tuesday (April 21) after a week-long surveillance into suspected diesel misappropriation activities in the area.

“The raid uncovered a three-tonne lorry believed to have been used by a syndicate to siphon diesel from several petrol stations.

“Investigations revealed that the vehicle had been modified with an additional tank capable of holding about 3,000 litres, which was installed in its cargo area to store the fuel,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 22).

Kamalludin said the syndicate was believed to operate late at night to avoid detection while purchasing and transferring diesel into the modified tank before reselling it to industrial buyers on the black market.

He said a 56-year-old local man who was driving the lorry was arrested to assist with the investigation.

“Enforcement officers also seized three intermediate bulk container tanks, a pump, a hose set, and a diesel purchase receipt.

“The total value of the confiscated items is estimated at RM49,370,” he added.

He said the case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 for suspected possession and storage of controlled goods.

“I urge the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting information on the misuse of controlled and subsidised goods.

“Members of the public can lodge complaints via the ministry’s WhatsApp hotline, call centre, email, or the Ez Adu KPDN mobile application,” he added.
