Couple killed, four hurt in Temerloh crash

KUANTAN: Two senior citizens died while four other people, including a teenager, were hurt in a two-vehicle accident at KM134 Jalan Kuantan-Kuala Lumpur near Temerloh on Sunday (April 19) evening.

Temerloh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the driver of one car, Zulkifli Md Yusof, 72, died at the scene after being pinned in his seat in the 5.25pm incident.

"His wife, Radzuan Mohamad, 67, who was in the front passenger seat, passed away at 8.55pm while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh," he said in a statement on Monday (April 20).

He said the couple's 13-year-old grandson is in critical condition and is being treated in the hospital's red zone.

The other car involved in the crash was carrying three Armed Forces personnel, aged 22 to 27. All three were injured and are receiving treatment in the hospital's yellow zone.

"Preliminary investigations indicated that the second car, driven by a 22-year-old, was heading from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur (when the driver) lost control and veered into the opposite lane before crashing into the victims' car," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. – Bernama
