Police officer, two policemen arrested at Ipoh entertainment outlet, two test positive for drugs

PETALING JAYA: A police officer and two policemen were arrested while at an entertainment outlet in Ipoh, Perak, with two of them testing positive for drugs.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the raid was conducted on April 5 at two entertainment premises in Bandar Baru Medan, Ipoh and Taman Ipoh, reported Sinar Harian.

"Checks at the second premises found that 87 customers, aged 19 to 52, tested positive for drugs.

"Also checked during the raid were a police officer and two policemen who were at the premises. Two of them were found to have tested positive for drugs," he said on Sunday (April 19).

Hussein said the two policemen, aged 26 and 40, held the ranks of corporal and lance corporal respectively, and were serving in Johor.

"The corporal tested positive for ketamine, while his colleague tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and ketamine.

"The police officer, who is serving in Perak, tested negative for drugs," he said.

He said a total of 59 men and 28 women were detained to assist in investigations under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

"This action proves that we will not compromise on any offence, including those involving police personnel," he said.
