Wan Saiful open to PAS membership

PETALING JAYA: Former Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said he was open to all options, including joining PAS, if followers of former Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin agreed on that decision.

Wan Saiful, on Friday (April 17), said Hamzah would discuss his choice of party with him and other former Bersatu leaders and described Hamzah as a team player, Sinar Harian reported.

He said he believed many parties had invited Hamzah because, in his view, Hamzah’s sincerity and ability to lead were visible to others.

He said he would not be surprised if PAS accepted Hamzah and repeated that he was open to all options.

Federal Territories Reset Coordinator Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin said PAS should consider accepting Hamzah to strengthen Perikatan Nasional ahead of the 16th General Election.

He said his proposal took into account his view that Hamzah, as an influential figure, could strengthen the opposition bloc by attracting broader support across races and social backgrounds.

Ketereh Member of Parliament Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor was reported to have said he was ready to follow Hamzah if Hamzah decided to join PAS.

Wan Saiful said Bersatu’s response to any PAS move on Hamzah would show what kind of party Bersatu was.
