Two senior Jupem officers to be charged over power abuse, false claims

KUALA LUMPUR: Two senior officers from the Survey and Mapping Malaysia Department (Jupem) are expected to be charged over allegations of abuse of power next week, says Tan Sri Azam Baki.

The duo were arrested on Feb 11 over alleged abuse of power and submission of false claims involving funds from the Board of Land Surveyors Malaysia (LJT).

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner said both suspects are expected to be prosecuted as early as Wednesday (April 22).

"We expect to bring them to face charges next week. Maybe as early as Wednesday,” he said in his speech during the MACC Media Awards event on Friday (April 17).

Azam said this was just one of several cases involving senior officers and director generals.
