Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in KL, 11 states until 9pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds throughout the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and 11 states until 9pm on Thursday (April 9) night.

MetMalaysia, in a statement, said that, in addition to the country's capital, inclement weather is expected to hit the whole of Penang and Perak.

The affected areas in Kedah are Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, while the areas in Selangor are Hulu Selangor and Gombak.

In the East Coast, the affected areas are Kuala Krai and Gua Musang in Kelantan; Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu; and Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang.

The warning also covers Jempol and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan, as well as Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang and Kulai in Johor.

In Sabah, the warning covers the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan) and the West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud).

In Sarawak, the areas expected to be affected are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Telang Usan and Marudi) and Limbang. — Bernama
