Three more suspects arrested in Buntong murder probe

IPOH: Police have arrested three more individuals believed to be involved in the murder of a 25-year-old man in Buntong.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the suspects, aged between their 20s and 30s, were arrested early Thursday (April 9) morning.

"We will apply for a remand order for them to facilitate investigations," he told a press conference on Thursday.

The latest arrests bring the total number of people detained to seven, following the arrest of four others shortly after the incident on Monday (April 6).

The victim's body was found in the middle of a road in Buntong.

Two other individuals were injured during the attack and are still receiving medical treatment.

The case is being investigated under Sections 302, 326, and 148 of the Penal Code for murder, causing grievous hurt, and rioting with weapons.

Regarding the motive, Comm Noor Hisam said the attack is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding.

"The interrogations are still ongoing. We believe it is more towards personal issues, nothing more," he said.

He added there was a possibility the victim had been involved in a fight prior to the fatal incident.

Comm Noor Hisam also assured the public that Buntong is still safe and has not become a hotspot for gangsterism.
