Fire in Kampung Chabang Tiga affects eight houses

KOTA BARU: Eight houses were affected by a fire in Kampung Chabang Tiga, Kedai Buloh, here, on Friday night (April 3).

Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department Operations and Station Management Branch chief Mohd Farid Ismail said five of the houses were completely destroyed, while the remaining three sustained about 10 per cent damage.

He said the blaze spread quickly as the houses were made of wood and built very close to one another, with an estimated gap of only about three feet (0.91 metres).

“Windy conditions caused the fire to spread rapidly, and firefighters took about an hour to bring it under control,” he told reporters at the scene.

“Fortunately, all occupants managed to escape from their homes. At the initial stage, we faced difficulties in securing a water supply for firefighting operations, but the issue was resolved, and five houses were successfully saved from being destroyed,” he added. – Bernama
