Kelana Jaya LRT line service restored after earlier track incident

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line service, which was disrupted this evening following an incident involving a passenger falling onto the tracks at the Abdullah Hukum Station, has resumed.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) in a statement said that services resumed at 6.59 pm, with train operations being normalised progressively.

To ensure safety and smooth passenger movement, auxiliary police personnel and station staff remain stationed at platforms and concourse areas to assist commuters.

"Rapid Rail apologises for the inconvenience caused and greatly appreciates the patience and cooperation of passengers throughout the service disruption,” the statement said.

Train services on the Kelana Jaya Line were disrupted at 6.09 pm after a passenger fell onto the tracks at the Abdullah Hukum Station and was rescued by firemen.

Rapid Rail said train services between Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum stations were temporarily suspended, while alternative transport services, including free shuttle buses, were activated to support operations.

Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Control Centre said the victim was a 39-year-old local woman who sustained injuries to her hands and face.

According to the statement, the department received an emergency call at 6.19 pm, and a team from the Pantai Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location. The victim was successfully extricated at 6.38pm, given initial treatment, and sent to HKL. - Bernama
