THE Indian community in Gopeng, Perak, has called for the name of the Tamil school there to be reverted to its original name from 1965, Malaysia Nanban reported.

SJK (T) Gopeng was initially known as Thiruvalluvar Tamil Padasalai Gopeng or Thiruvalluvar Tamil School.

State exco member Datuk A. Sivanesan, who accompanied Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh during a recent visit, said he is ready to support the effort to bring back the original name honouring the ancient Indian sage, the daily reported.
