MACC says no official report lodged over allegations RM9.5mil given to politician by Victor Chin

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has taken note of various allegations circulating in the media regarding the solicitation and payment of money to a politician.

To date, the MACC said it has yet to receive any official report in relation to the allegations, and the information being circulated remains unverified.

In this regard, the MACC has urged any party with credible information to come forward and lodge an official report, so that investigations can be carried out in a comprehensive, transparent and fact-based manner.

The commission said it remains committed to examining all information received, and that any action will only be taken based on solid evidence, in accordance with the law.

Earlier, it was reported that businessman Victor Chin claimed he had handed over RM9.5mil to an MP from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Chin said the payment was a “service fee” and not for an out-of-court settlement or to “kaw tim” (settle) any case or halt investigations by enforcement agencies.

He also claimed the payment was made to stop pressure he was facing in relation to a scandal described as a “corporate mafia”.
