Daim’s children to give statements to MACC on April 6

PETALING JAYA: All four children of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin are expected to present themselves at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters on April 6 to have their statements recorded.

MACC Special Operations Division director Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin said the commission had received an undertaking from the individuals’ legal representatives, assuring that all four would attend as scheduled.

“In this regard, the MACC acknowledges the undertaking and expects the commitment to be fully honoured by all parties involved.

“The MACC is giving the necessary space for them to appear, and should any individual fail to do so as promised, further action will be considered in accordance with the relevant legal provisions,” he said on Tuesday (March 24).

It was previously reported that Notices to Trace Individuals were issued against the four following their failure to respond and non-compliance with two official notices served by the MACC in relation to asset declarations.

They have been identified as Asnida, Md Wira Dani, Muhammed Amir Zainuddin and Muhammed Amin Zainuddin.

According to the MACC, the notices were issued after no response was received and attempts to contact all four individuals were unsuccessful as of Feb 26.

“Their lawyers had earlier informed that their clients were overseas and were also facing difficulties in establishing contact,” he added.
