Malaysians banned from Budi95 for filling up container in car boot

PETALING JAYA: A viral video of a woman filling up RON95 petrol into a container in a car's boot has got her to lose her fuel subsidy privileges.

The Finance Ministry announced that it had launched an investigation following the viral video.

"The investigation found that the person involved was a Malaysian with a MyKad. Their actions are a violation of regulations and an abuse of the Budi95 fuel subsidy," said the ministry in a statement on Monday (March 23).

The ministry added that it had barred the person who purchased the petrol and the owner of the vehicle from enjoy the Budi95 subsidy.

"The government will not compromise any abuse of the Budi95 subsidy, especially during a volatile time that requires strict control of fuel supply and price.

"The public is urged to report any suspicious activity regarding fuel subsidies to the Budi Madani service centre at 1300-88-9595, WhatsApp +603-26314595, or email budimadani@treasury.gov.my," it said.
