Soldier killed in crash involving trailer near Kampar

IPOH: An army personnel was killed after he was run over by a trailer in an accident at KM296.7 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound near Kampar Thursday (March 19) afternoon.

Kampar OCPD Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud said police received information about the incident at about 2.20pm.

He said the victim, Muhammad Adam Ibrahim, 27, who was riding a motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Preliminary investigations found that the accident is believed to have occurred when the victim's motorcycle grazed the trailer's right tyre, causing the rider to fall onto the road, where he was then run over by the trailer.

"The victim's body was sent to Kampar Hospital for a post-mortem, while the 53-year-old lorry driver did not sustain any injuries," he said in a statement Thursday.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
