Traffic lights at four Pontian junctions to be set to amber mode this Hari Raya

PONTIAN: Traffic lights at four locations in the Pontian district will operate in amber mode from March 18 until March 29 to manage the Hari Raya Aidilfitri exodus.

The affected areas include the four-way intersections of Taman Megah and Teluk Kerang, as well as the three-way junctions of Parit Ibrahim and Ayer Baloi.

"The move is to improve safety and reduce traffic congestion by activating traffic lights in amber mode," Pontian OCPD Supt Hadzrat Hussein Mion Hussain said in a statement on Tuesday (March 17).

He said the measure allows motorists to adjust their speed according to real-time traffic conditions and gives authorities more flexibility in managing festive holiday flows.

Drivers are warned to be extra cautious and reduce their speed when approaching these junctions.

Supt Hadzrat also reminded those travelling for the festive season to prioritise the safety of their loved ones.

"Obey traffic rules, avoid driving when sleepy and ensure your vehicles are in good condition before starting your journey," he said.
